You don't have to be in the Mission to get good authentic Mexican food. Part of being a yelper is stumbling upon good eats. Colibri Mexican Bistro is located in the Presidio. Chatting with the server I learned that they used to be in the union square area. If the weather is nice out, sit out in the patio. It's beautiful inside or out, but I prefer outside. The churro was worth every calorie and the tacos were amazing. Service was 5 stars and nothing short.

Had a wonderfully pleasant Birthday lunch celebration here today....Grand atmosphere both inside and out in the historic Presidio Officers Club! The vibe is inviting...service was attentive and timed well. No rush and our courses were timed nicely to allow us a 2 hour meal. The margaritas were freshly squeezed and elevated in flavor and presentation. We enjoyed the fresh fish ceviche, tortilla chips and fresh salsa varieties, tortilla soup and grilled butter leaf salad. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant in the beautiful Presidio!

The food here was absolutely amazing and the service was just as astonishing! Every single dish was absolutely delicious, especially the guacamole and the tostadas and the queso! Everything also came out super fast! Our waiter was super attentive and checked on us multiple times, we ended up staying past opening time and the patiently waited for us to leave and didn't say a word! The environment is also super gorgeous, it's a huge restaurant with a very well decorated outdoor area with heating at every single table, and also a beautiful indoor area! Really enjoyed my experience here and definitely definitely recommend!!

Arrived on Fourth of July with 3 friends visiting from Sacramento area. We were able to sit outside right when they opened, beautiful outside area. As the sun rose, they extended a few awnings to help shade all those outside. The food was amazing, some of the best Mexican food I have had in a restaurant setting. I had the flautas with chicken, my friends had the enchiladas, carne asada, and carnitas. We were so full afterwards, the seasoning wasn't over done and meat portions were pretty generous. The waitresses had a really busy day as the whole restaurant began to fill up quickly, but they still managed well and were very attentive.

a beautiful day on the Presidio full of sunshine and a light breeze. A perfect day for the patio. The service was attentive but not obsequious. The Oaxaca cocktail was awesome! By far my favorite part of the meal. The infusion of habaneros gives it the perfect kick. The guacamole was good with fresh ingredients however the something; rather nondescript. The Panuchos were well seasoned and very delicious with well balanced complex flavor profile. At first I was disappointed with the portion size (there were only 2). Worked out okay given our other dishes. Still think there should have been at least 3. The churros were the disappointment of the meal. Flavoring was good but the churros were hard, dense, and even difficult to cut. I would avoid those and order something else if that is the standard. Overall a good spot and I would return to try some of their other offerings.

Never knew there was a Mexican restaurant in the Presidio until a friend chose this place for her birthday dinner. We came on a weekend for dinner and the place was quite popular! Shout out to Jay for his excellent and friendly service! We tried various dishes in our large party and everything was quite good. These are the dishes I had a chance to taste: Shrimp in tamarind sauce: the tamarind gave the shrimp a bit of a tang Braised short ribs: the ribs were tender and moist I recommend this place and parking was very easy for dinner.

WOW... this review was buried in my drafts forever... This place is pretty good. when someone is asking for a Mexican resto recommendation, COLIBRI... when someone is near the presidio, same suggestion... Mexican food isn't my favorite... just because I'm not too fond of some ingredients...well, one ingredient.. CILANTRO... but hey, they are able to accommodate me... that just shows that food is fresh and well thought of.. I always try to get the Chile Relleno (stuffed with chorizo), chips and guacamole, and the queso fundido.... you can have your dishes with freshly made tortilla, or chips... you cant go wrong with either choice... don't forget to pair your food with their cocktails... I always end up ordering something different, depending on my mood, and I have never been disappointed. I usually come here after a morning at the Presidio Tunnel top parks... Great food, great drinks... amazing service. WONDERFUL spot... I've only been here on weekend brunches, so its always a good comfortable meal outdoors... Im seeing a solid 4 star here, but this is definitely a 5 for me... cant wait to come back.
